Most likely to be in GQ Magazine...

When Derk was a senior in highschool, he was voted "most likely to be in GQ Magazine." He would be so embarassed if any of the guys from work found out. My brother shared with me, the coolest place to take pictures. It is going to be our little secret. As you can see, the railroad tracks and the backdrop is beautiful, and there are some cool old buildings and lots of rusty metal. I love it. Derk makes a great model. He is so hot! Yum. I think he is so handsome. When Derk and I first met (over 8 years ago), he only weighed 145 pounds. He was a little on the thin side. I like him with some meat on his bones. What a hunk!

Cause' every little thing... is gonna be alright...

"Hanging Out"
Kinlee and I went to Liberty Park today. It is so far away from where I live (like 20 miles each way) but so worth the drive. On the way there Kinlee wanted me to play some "Bob Mahley" (Bob Marley). I absolutely love him. There is this song called "Three Little Birds" one of our favorites. It says: "Don't worry, about a thing... cause' every little thing, is gonna be alright" and it is so true. It got me thinking about life. If you know me, you know I am by no means into religion... However, I believe in fate (definition: the supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events) and that things happen for a reason. There are so many little things that I have worried about in my own life, and now that I think about some of them, they are small compared to others. I have a best friend who went through struggles with fertility issues, I have another good friend that has an uncurable disease. However, in the end, the one friend with fertility issues was blessed with a baby, and my other friend that has an uncurable disease and was told she would never have children, also had a miracle. It's like the Carrie Underwood song "Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing, is just a grain of sand." It's so true. I geuss my point is, don't worry, about a thing... cause' every little thing, is gonna be alright. Things happen for a reason, whether or not it is to make us a stronger person, or a better person, or to teach us about life. Things have a way of working themselves out. I truly believe that. I will stop rambling on about this. If you ever need a cheering up, throw in a little Bob Marley : )

Party's, Pumpkin Patches and tons of cute kids...

Baby Ryker (eat your hearts out ladies!)
Baby Dylan (don't you just love those eyelashes and lips!)

For the past two years, Derk and I have put on a little neighborhood Halloween get together at our house (outside of course :) We also invited a few friends and also my sister in laws family (which is like our family as well). This year the turnout was not good at all... We were a little disapointed. Out of 110 houses that we placed flyers at, only 7 families came. Hmm... Next year, we are just gonna do friends and family and a few neighbor friends. For those who did come, we had a grand time. The kids looked so adorable in their costumes. I took so many pics, I could only pick and chose a few to put on here. After we got all cleaned up from the shin dig, we went to the pumpkin patch on 9000 S. and 2200 W. It's fun to push the kids around in wheelbarrows and pick out a few pumpkins. A little tradition we now do.

Jill, Joe and Gavin

Last night one of Derks good friends from high school (Jill Cooper) let me take some pictures of their cute little family. Their little boy Gavin is adorable, and was so patient. These guys were naturals at posing for pictures (lucky for me since I need much more experience in that area). They make a fine looking bunch don't they? Thanks for letting me practice, and I hope you guys like all the pics.

On the farm...

Today Kinlee and I went to Wheeler Farm. I am going to be taking some family pictures for some friends of ours on Wednesday (or at least attempting to) and I wanted to scope out the area for ideas. As usual, Kinlee was my practice. When we were leaving, I saw the most horrible thing happen... There was a handicapped boy in a wheelchair next to this little stream. All of a sudden he rolled towards it, and his entire wheelchair toppled sideways into the water and he was stuck in it under the water. All of these people were running to help get him out. It was horrible! I was almost in tears. The poor kids parents were pretty shaken up. The kid was ok, but pretty rattled when they got him out of the water and out of his wheelchair.

Go Utes!

Dawson, Parker and Kinlee
Every year we go with Derks parents and Derks brothers family to a Utes game. The weather this year was perfect! Anyone who knows Derk well, knows that he is the biggest sports guru. He works in a sports related job, he plays baseball (used to help coach), and loves his Utah Utes. He can tell you anything about any sport, or any player. It amazes me. We had perfect seats down by the south end zone (actually by the rival teams fans), but since we were kicking their butts, they were pretty quiet the whole time. Kinlee and I left after the third quarter. She was being really good, but I had enough football for the day. All in all, it was fun to go with the family and any time Kinlee gets to spend with her two cousins is special to her.

Oh yes it's ladies night...

Last night I went out with my girls Emily, Heather and Kendra. There is always lots of interesting conversation when we all get together, considering that Heather and Kendra are single, and Em and I are married. Always tons of fun and memories from all the years we have been friends. Oh, by the way, we went to eat at a place downtown called TRIO. It was a little pricey, but I stuck with the cheese pizza (which was the cheapest thing on the menu at 10.99) but it was delicious!

$232.00 later...

>

Today started out as a nice day. Kinlee let me take some adorable pictures of her in the hat that I made. I decided to go to ROSS in The District and get a headstart on some Christmas shopping. On the way home, we decided to take Bacchus Hwy (U-111) . Long story short, I got pulled over by a South Jordan cop. He says, "do you know why I stopped you?" DUH!!! and I said, "probably because of speed." so then he asks me if I know what the speed limit is (10800 S. and Bacchus) and I said 60... He says, try 50! Then he proceeeds to say he clocked me at 72 in a 50. I was so pissed. I said there is no way I would have been going that fast if I would have known the speed limit was 50 and not 60. Now I am not denying the fact that I was speeding, but c'mon. Up ahead about 1/2 mile I see a 60 mph sign within eyes view, but I just happened to be still in the 50. Bullcrap! I am still pissed. He wrote me the ticket for 72 in a 50 which is a 232.00 fine. There goes my first paycheck from Carters people. I asked him if he could write it for less, and he was like"nope"! So yah, if you drive Bacchus Hwy out in that area, then beware of Officer Dumbass, I mean Officer Dempsey. Geuss I will be going to traffic school so it does not hit my driving record :) P.S. I am going to go see the bailiff at the court once it posts and try to get the fine reduced if I pay in full. If anyone wants one of these hats, let me know. I charge 15.00.

Witchy Poo's

Me, Kathy and Misty (my gorgeous sis in law)

Every year I go with Derks mom and my sister in law Misty (and her sisters and mom) to Gardner Village for "Witches Night Out". This year we were all so busy, that we couldn't manage to go on the actual witches night out weekend, so we met up and went yesterday to just walk around and look at all the cute stuff. I had to work at 5 so I was only able to go for about 2 hours. The girls all went to dinner at Archibalds after I left and shopped some more. There are so many fun (but pricey) stores at Gardner Village. My favorite is "Just us Girls", they have the cutest girly things in there and a lot of cute gift ideas as well. It was a fun time.

Trial and Error

The award for "Rookie Of The Year" goes to... Tonight my best friend since 3rd grade let me take some pictures of her 4 month old son Dylan. He is so adorable. We kind of got a rough start to the picture taking. First of all, I forgot to turn the camera on. Then everytime I would take a picture it was blury for some reason. I could not figure it out. Finally I realized (actually Derk did) that when the flash was popping up, it was hitting the brim of my hat (I had no idea). The whole time, I was thinking something was wrong with my camera. Well, after all the trials and errors, we finally got some good shots. It was getting late, and Dylan had a long day with mommy at work, and was tired of waiting for me to get my act together. Thanks Rob and Em for letting me practice.

** OK so talk about idiot... As I was posting my 2 favorite pics of Dylan, I freakin deleted one and now it is gone, from my memory card!!! AHHH!!! One of these days I am gonna get all this figured out if it kills me.

Pictures and Charlie Chow's...

Today I made my brother Sheldon and my sister Melody go with me to Memory Grove so I could take some pictures of them and test out my new camera. Yes it was raining and I was trying to hold my umbrella up so my camera would not get wet, and take pictures at the same time (not so easy...) I got some awesome shots. Check out my photography blog to see all of them: http://kimberlydanae.blogspot.com/. After the pics, my brother was raving about this chinese restaurant on 400 south. It was called Charlie Chow's. It was delicious. I would recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to go there again. Thanks Mel and Shel for getting wet, and letting me boss you around a bit. I can do that you know since I am the oldest sibling!

First day on the job...

Today was officially my first day working at Carter's in Jordan Landing. I was so nervous when I got there because I had not recieved any type of training on the registers, and there is so much to learn and take in... Needless to say, it went great! I got to work with the assistant manager, Amy, (who I actually knew before just from shopping at Carter's so much) She is amazing and showed me so much. I think I am really going to like working at Carter's. Who wouldn't want to work surrounded by fun people, and a place that has the cutest kids clothes ever!

On the downside, poor Kinlee was sick today. She was fine all morning, we went to store, and out of nowhere she started to throw up (I'm talking blowing chunks) It was the first time she has really ever done this so I was so scared. It was all over the floor and all over herself so I had to strip her down to her diaper and bolt from the store. After that she was fine. We went home, went for a walk and had lunch and then she had her nap. Then when I was driving to drop her at Derks moms house so I could go to work, she threw up again in the car. I was driving and I heard her making this weird sound, so I turned around and it was coming out like the excorcist... So I pulled into a gas station and once again stripped her down and this time it was literally all over. All over the carseat, her clothes, in the clips on her carseat... I was gagging and almost threw up like 5 times... Kinlee thought I was kidding around and she was laughing at me. That is my one weakness, throwup, and I know I am going to be seeing a lot more of it in the years to come. I felt so bad for Kinlee, I don't think she knew what was going on. It's sad to see your child sick like that because you can't do anything about it but offer them comfort. After all that, I even managed to be 5 minutes early to work.

Thoughts...

So I am not sure how many people know this about me, but recently I have been becoming more and more interested in photography. I love to take pictures, especially of people, and at some point down the road (soon hopefully) I would like to start this up as a hobby and possible side job. I have a pretty creative side to me, I just have not ever put it to much use. I have started another blog where I am going to be posting some of my pictures. Check it out: http://kimberlydanae.blogspot.com/. I am in the market for a new camera (hopefully a Nikon) and I am wondering if anyone would be interested in letting me take some "free" family pics, or pics of your kids to use as part of my "portfolio" that I want to create. I will let everyone know when I get my new camera and you can be my guinea pigs and I will give you any and all pics I take for free on a disc.
